Carobbio is an estate winery in Panzano in Chianti, a locality (‘frazione’) in Greve-in-Chianti in the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany. Red wines are made under the Chianti Classico DOCG.

Owner: In 1986 it was acquired by Carlo Novarese (aged 60). He had retired from the family textile business. His first wine was from the 2007 vintage. He has been succeeded by his son Alberto.

Staff: Dario Faccin (Winemaker). Gabriella Tani (Consultant oenologist).

Vineyards: On the border between the provinces of Siena (south) and Florence (north). | 2019 16ha hectares of vines. 320-410 metres. Clay in the lower lying areas near the Pesa river), and sandstone, galestro and alberese in the higher elevations.

Chianti Classico DOCG, Carobbio: 2015 100% Sangiovese. | 2016 100% Sangiovese.

Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Carobbio: 1999 Bottled. | 2014 100% Sangiovese. Ferments in stainless steel. Racked to 2nd fill barrels and botti with MLF in oak. Very clear fruit, well-weighted and well put together (Anteprima 2019).

Toscana IGT Rosso, Pietraforte: Named after the ‘pietraforte‘ soil type typical of Panzano in Chianti. | 2014 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Toscana IGT Rosso, Leone del Carobbio: 2013 100% Sangiovese. 14% alc. Single vineyard. 4,000 bottles.

Toscana IGT, Magaldo2015 100% Merlot.
