Château Fourcas Hosten is located in the Listrac-Médoc AOC in Bordeaux in south-west France. which is in the process of converting to organics.

Owners: Laurent and Rénaud Momméja.

History: Fourcas is the name of the location of the estate’s most historic vines (see below) and Hosten is derived from Hostein, the name of this estate’s owners in the early 18th-century. In 1810 the Hosten family sold to the Saint-Affrique family who made the wine at their Château Gressier-Grand-Poujeaux, their estate in nearby Moulis until 1971. From 1971-2006 Forcas-Hosten was owned by investors based in New York. In 2006 it was bought by Laurent and Rénaud Momméja from Hermès, the French fashion and luxury goods group.

The Château: A manor house surrounded by a 3ha (7.5 acre) park in the centre of the commune of Listrac, near its Romanesque church.

Vineyards: 2017 47 hectares (116 acres) of vines. Vine density is 8,333 vines per hectare (3,370 vines per acre). There are two main terroirs. On the Plateau de Listrac there are 2.2 hectares (5.5 acres) of white wine grapes for Bordeaux Blanc Sec, at 300 metres (100 feet), clay-limestone. These was planted from 2012 as organic. Around 100 metres (330 feet away) and still on the Plateau de Listrac are 20 hectares of red wine grapes, mainly Merlot, in a single block. The second terroir concerns Le Fourcas, 1km (3,330 ft) away, just north-east of the town.
