Entre-Deux-Mers AOC is an appellation for an early drinking dry white wine grown in 137 communes between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers on the right bank of the Bordeaux region (see list below). 

Terroir: The area delimited for the Entre-Deux-Mers AOC lies within the larger Entre-Deux-Mers region as a whole.

In volume terms Entre-Deux-Mers AOC is Bordeaux’s most important dry white AOC wine after Bordeaux Blanc. Pink and red wines from  the area delimited for Entre-Deux-Mers AOC are are bottled under the Bordeaux AOC (or as Crémant de Bordeaux AOC).

Nine communes within Entre-Deux-Mers AOC may also bottle white wines under either the Bordeaux Haut-Benauge AOC, or Entre-Deux-Mers-Haut-Benauge AOC.

Wine production: 2002 1,448ha produced 84,373hl (Guide Hachette des Vins 2004, p.312).

History: The Entre-Deux-Mers AOC dates from 1937, and was revised 1953.

The blend: Entre-Deux-Mers AOC must be made mainly from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and Muscadelle, with optional additions of upto one third Colombard, Ugni Blanc, Merlot, Blanc or Mauzac. The wines can be released within a few months of harvest. 

Typical flavours: Crisp, dry, gooseberry, tomato leaf.
